Packers take care of remaining needs to cap solid NFL Draft (2025)

The Green Bay Packers added to a solid draft on Saturday on the final day of the NFL Draft, taking advantage of their five remaining picks.

With a historic first-round pick and some additional weapons on offense in the second and third rounds on Friday, the Packers mostly turned their attention to defense on Saturday.

In the fourth round, Green Bay selected Texas defensive lineman Barryn Sorrell with the 124th overall pick. Sorrell, who was still in attendance, waiting in the green room, was announced by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Sorrell was a three-year starter at Texas, recording 15.5 sacks and 125 tackles, 24.5 of which were for losses. His 28 reps at 225 pounds on the bench press at the combine were tied for ninth, per NFL Network.

He may not have the speed that others at his position do, but his experience at Texas could prove valuable.

Green Bay added more help to its defensive line by selecting Oklahoma State's Collin Oliver with the 159th pick in the fifth round.

Oliver is a three-time, second-team All-Big 12 Conference selection from 2021-2023. While he is on the smaller side for an edge rusher in the league at 6-foot-2, his 2021 season, when he had 11.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss, earned him Freshman All-America honors and the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year award.

The main concern surrounding him is a right foot injury that plagued him during the 2024 season.

It was the same story for Green Bay in the sixth round when the Packers drafted Georgia's Warren Brinson with the 198th pick in the sixth round, the team's third consecutive defensive lineman of the day.

Brinson was a part-time starter for two of his five seasons with the Bulldogs. During Georgia's championship defense in 2022, Brinson recorded 14 QB hits. He recently had one sack and 2.5 tackles for loss in the team's SEC title game win over Texas in December.

The limited experience as a starter is a concern, so some more development and time in Green Bay's system are going to be critical.

The Packers capped off the 2025 NFL Draft with a pair of seventh-round picks, beginning with the selection of Tulane cornerback Micah Robinson with the 237th pick.

Robinson played his final collegiate season at Tulane after spending his first four seasons with Furman. During his time at Tulane, Robinson had 33 tackles and two interceptions, including one returned for a TD against Charlotte.

His 4.42-second 40-yard dash at Tulane's pro day was solid and he joins a Packers secondary headlined by two-time All-Pro selection Jaire Alexander and Keisean Nixon. Starting time will be hard to come by at first, but Robinson has the potential to be a key player in Green Bay in due time.

The Packers finished out the draft with their only non-defensive player of the day, Cincinnati offensive lineman John Williams, with the 250th overall pick.

Williams was a 27-game starter for Cincinnati. Per Pro Football Focus, Williams only allowed three sacks during his last two seasons with the Bearcats, proving how much of a force he can be. According to NFL.com's scouting report, Williams is projected to be a candidate for a bottom-of-the-roster spot or the practice squad.

Overall, the first-round selection of wide receiver Matthew Golden, plus N.C. State offensive lineman Anthony Belton and TCU receiver Savion Williams on Day 2 was a great start to the draft. By getting some defensive playmakers on Saturday, Green Bay took care of its needs and should feel good after a solid draft performance.
